1 Corinthians 3:10-15 - '10 By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as an expert builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should be careful how he builds. 11 For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 If any man builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, 13 his work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each man's work. 14 If what he has built survives, he will receive his reward. 15 If it is burned up, he will suffer loss; he himself will be saved, but only as one escaping through the flames.'

Philippians 1:6 - '6 being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.'

Matthew 5:7 - '7 Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.'

Matthew 5:14-16 - ' "14 You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.'

1 John 1:7 - '7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.'

Brainstorm during service:

1. Keep food at hand in your car – e.g. granola bars - to give out whilst stopped at traffic lights

2. Give restaurants gift cards rather than money

3. CTA cards for transit

4. Donate clothing – e.g. to Lakeview Pantry, Salvation Army etc.

5. Donate coupons, 2 for 1 offers, clippings for food, etc.

6. Donate restaurant ‘boxed’ food or ‘doggy bags’ to street dwellers

7. Provide cold bottled water

8. Offer prayer and gospel tracts

9. Provide transportation or purchase a rail ticket instead of cash

10. Buy “Streetwise” even if you don’t take a copy

11. Be a good tipper – not the typical Christian 25 cents wrapped up in a tract! Try a $10 bill and the tract – see what a difference that make?

12. Engage in conversation, show personal concern for the person

13. Separate recyclables for redemption – esp. aluminum & copper and leave somewhere where it can be collected by scavengers.
