Genesis 3:1-8 - 1 Now the serpent was more
crafty than any of the wild animals the LORD God had made. He said to
the woman, "Did God really say, 'You must not eat from any tree in the
garden'?" 2 The woman said to the serpent, "We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, 3
but God did say, 'You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the
middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.' " 4 "You will not surely die," the serpent said to the woman. 5 "For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil." 6
When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and
pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took
some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her,
and he ate it. 7 Then the eyes
of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they
sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves. 8
Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the LORD God as he was
walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the
LORD God among the trees of the garden.
1 John 3:4 - 4 Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness.
Deuteronomy 30:19 - 19 This day I call heaven
and earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and
death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your
children may live 20 and
that you may love the LORD your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast
to him. For the LORD is your life, and he will give you many years in
the land he swore to give to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
Galatians 5:1-7 - 1 It is for freedom that
Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be
burdened again by a yoke of slavery. 2 Mark my words! I, Paul, tell you that if you let yourselves be circumcised, Christ will be of no value to you at all. 3 Again I declare to every man who lets himself be circumcised that he is obligated to obey the whole law. 4 You who are trying to be justified by law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace. 5 But by faith we eagerly await through the Spirit the righteousness for which we hope. 6 For
in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value.
The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love. 7 You were running a good race. Who cut in on you and kept you from obeying the truth?
Romans 7:15-24 - 15 I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. 16 And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. 17 As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. 18 I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 19 For what I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. 20 Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it. 21 So I find this law at work: When I want to do good, evil is right there with me. 22 For in my inner being I delight in God's law; 23 but
I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against
the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work
within my members. 24 What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death?
Romans 5:12 - 12 Therefore, just as sin
entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this
way death came to all men, because all sinned
Romans 6:23 - 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
John 3:3 - 3 In reply Jesus declared, "I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again."
Romans 8:1-2 - 1 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, 2 because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death.
1 Timothy 1:15 - 15 Here is a trustworthy
saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world
to save sinners—of whom I am the worst.
